How do I apply for a permit?
Permit applications can be obtained at your local municipality offices or can usually be found online on your city, township, borough or county website. Most municipalities will require a survey of the property, highlighted with the proposed fense location, along with the permit application. Permit fees can vary, but are typically between $25-$75.
How long does the permit process take?
Typically permits take anywhere between 10-15 business days. However there is no particular time frame in which permits will be approved or denied. So, it is important to submit as soon as possible to avoid any delays with your installation.
*Please note: permit approval times can occationally exceed 10-15 days in the spring and summer seasons.
What is a survey and where do I get one?
Surveys can usually be found in the paperwork you had received when you purchased the property and look like a drawing/blueprint. A survey provides information in regards to easements, property lines and/or other construction that was completed on the property. If you do not have a survey, you will need to find a surveying company in your area. *Please note: surveying companies can become very busy in the spring and summers
What do I do if my permit was denied?
If your permit is denied, you will need to resubmit. Permits are most commonly denied if any of the information on the application is incorrect. If a survey is required to be highlighted with dimensions of the proposed fence and it is submitted without or with information missing, it can be denied. Some areas have a Home Owners Association (HOA) and will require permit approval from your HOA, in addition to your local offices.
